Takopi no Genzai follows three young adolescents: Marina, Kuze (Shizuka), and Azuma. They have parenting problems basically. That involves an alien octopus trying to help them resolve conflicts, without a proper guide or guardian figure. This is SOOOO fucked up and literally gives me a new way of thinking. Thinking about how to see the world and figuring out why children are so prone. Humans need a proper mental model of how to act.

Bit of a recap, basically, Shizuka’s mom is a whore, of which Shizuka herself was born as someone without a proper father figure. – Fuck you, condom-san, you should’ve done better. Her mom eventually became an entertainer for Marina’s dad. Which, of course, destroyed Marina’s parents’ sweet, happy family. Of which Marina’s mom now wreaks her anger towards Marina. Causing her to hate Shizuka.

Now, Azuma feels for Kuze, but again, Azuma was a kid who was raised under his older bro’s shadow—absolute cinema, I know. Now there’s one thing I should mention here. By default, bullying is just so stupid. It occurs when someone has a problem with another person. For example, someone who’s smart or good at something may see others who have less of that trait as inferior.

For example:

  • A Straight A student may feel disgusted or look down on those who study lazily.
  • Jock bully those with improper body shape.
  • In this case, the bullying reason seems to be very logical. Simply because “Your mom ruined my family, now I have to ruin yours”.

But no, the problem is, Kuze herself was not supposed to be the one who was receiving all these things. She’s clueless and shouldn’t have gotten this treatment from Marina.

Now, in real life. Things got different. What if those who are juveniles committed a criminal act?

This is a common problem that the world faces! Research suggests the human brain is not fully developed until the mid-20s. But on the other hand, those who are between 14-16 nowadays are very open to social media and without parents’ guidance can put themselves in a situation where they don’t have a proper mental model.

Another Shizuka appears, Marina appears. Even worse, those who like trying so hard to fit in society may have grown up in the wrong circles. Developing something that is frowned upon by society. Now it’s another dilemma on how to deal with various levels of offence that are committed by children. Starting from:

  • Saying racist things
  • Faking ID
  • Killing people
  • Underage driving caused accidents

The problem doesn’t end there. Adding extra cancel culture on the internet is like pouring gasoline on the fire. Death threats, slurs, and insults will just. End their entire career or life, and the worst part is, people don’t really care about their contributions anymore.

Well, life is like that. You’ll never know. The only thing that we can do is just try to be as just as possible. As parents, avoid raising problematic children… I can’t blame people, though. Opinions are very appreciated, because I know someone’s brain is truly constructed by the environment they grow up in, and what’s funny or not, what’s good or not, are truly affected by socio-economic conditions, intercommunication, and companionship during their lifetime.
